Awards & Accolades

We have been recommended by Andrew Harper every year since 1996. Fodor’s Travel Guide chose Soniat House as one of their top 20 hotels in the world. Conde Nast Traveler’s Readers Choice Awards selected us as one of the top 40 hotels in the South, and to top it all off, Soniat House is included in the list of ‘1,000 Places to See Before You Die’.

Since our opening in 1982 we’ve enjoyed a steady stream of glowing editorial opinion, appearing in Architectural Digest, Travel and Leasure, The New York Times , as well as extraordinary international publications.

We are both humbled and gratified that articles continue to appear, year after year. May we share some of these reviews?

  • 1,000 Places To See Before You Die

"Considered by many to be the most beautiful hotel in town, the genteel, thirty-three room Soniat House is quintessential New Orleans..."

  • Fodors

Soniat House has been chosen as one of the top 20 hotels in the world by Fodor's Travel Guide. 30,000 properties were considered. 20 were chosen because they were unique and offer a one of a kind experience with a style that sets them apart from others. Read the press release or entire list of choice hotels. Read the online version on the Fodors web site.

  • Zagat

Only two hotels in the city received 27 (out of 30) points for both "rooms" and "service" — Soniat House is one of them.

  • Time

"Soniat House exudes Old World Elegance—and offers Internet access."

  • Departures

"Soniat House is the most luxurious boutique hotel in the city and the one where the fantasy of New Orleans is played out with the most finesse."

  • Architectural Digest

"'Gratuitous beauty' is an evocative phrase, and it speaks effectively to the three town houses that make up New Orlean's Soniat House Hotel, which is located in what is known locally as the lower, therefore quieter and more residential, French Quarter."

  • Traveler

"I would like to live here. The place has built-in charm and a welcome privacy."

  • Gourmet

"Gently the door swings open. Two courtly porters lead us into a stone carriageway by the light of a million flickering candles. It is the most exquisite entrance on earth."

  • Sara Ruffin Costello

“Soniat House is not just my favorite hotel in New Orleans. It is my favorite hotel.”
